Moving can be stressful – especially when you are moving across state lines! Here are three steps that you can take to ease the stress:
- Hire a reputable moving company. A moving company is going to get everything moved for you in one trip. With added bonuses such as coverage on your items and full inventory, this can greatly ease your stress. Let the moving company take on the stress of getting your items where they need to go – while you enjoy the view when driving across those state lines! Mulder’s Moving and Storage can take you across state lines. We are fully insured and perform full inventories.
- Plan ahead. Okay, you have hired a reputable moving company (hopefully Mulder’s Moving). Now, you will need to coordinate the arrival in your destination. Be sure there is clear communication with the driver on the destination location. You will want to be at the destination when the driver gets there to direct where you want all of your belongings unpacked. This will also take planning of your route. If you plan to deviate off of the truck route to stop and eat or see some attractions, you will want to leave early and plan for this so that you arrive at the same time as your driver.
- Leave room in your vehicle. Remember, there are going to be some items that cannot be in the truck. Pets, plants, propane tanks, ammunition and firearms are some of the items that we cannot transport. This means they will need to ride along with you! Be sure that you plan for these items when you pack your car and head down the road! There are more items that we cannot legally transport, and we will brief you on this when we arrive to pack up your belongings. We also recommend that you personally transport two totes: one with all of your important legal documents, and one with all of your essentials that you will need for the night of the move and the morning after (ex. toothbrush, change of clothes, etc).
