There are many reasons why people have mounts in their home. It may be a result of a successful hunt. Maybe the animal was a grandfather’s who left it to you. Or, you saw it at an estate sale and wanted to give it a good home. No matter the means of owning the mount, you know that it is more than a possession. It is a catalyst for the memories that come with the mount.
Safe moving techniques are essential for keeping the mount pristine. We highly recommend that you use our professional moving services. Dismounting and moving the piece on your own may result in broken antlers and damaged ears. We take the necessary precautions to ensure that the mount’s safety is put first.
When dismounting from the wall, it is essential that the entire mount is supported and gently eased down to floor level. This may take several men on our crew. Once on the ground, our crew gets to work protecting the piece. For smaller mounts, like small game and shoulder mounts – sufficient wrapping may protect the piece to the crew’s satisfaction. Larger items – like full body mounts and large game pieces – may need crating. Our crew will build a crate to protect the piece and keep it from moving and shifting during the transportation process.
These pieces are transported in our enclosed trucks so that they are out of the elements and so that wind damage does not occur. The mounts are strategically placed in the truck to ensure that they do not shift while moving which could cause damage. Also, nothing is ever stacked on top of the mounts. Putting pressure on the piece may not only break it, it may cause disfiguration or surface wear and tear.
